Workshop: Expressing yourself authentically through story

Presented as part of the Community Reading Room X Reading in the Mallee collaboriative residency at Arts Mildura.

Beau Windon is a neurodivergent writer of Wiradjuri descent based in Melbourne. He writes quirky stories with a focus on YA fiction and creative non-fiction. Beau graduated with Distinction from an Associate Degree of Professional Writing & Editing and a Bachelor of Arts and Honours in Creative Writing at RMIT University.

Join Beau for a workshop that explores ways of writing about your life. Beau will guide you through a series of activities to help you write about yourself and your life in ways that feel true and authentic. Open to anyone under 24-yrs who is interested in extending their writing practice in a safe and supportive environment.

The workshop will be followed by an Open Mic from 4.30pm-5.30pm in the same space at Arts Mildura which is open to the public if you feel like sharing your work more widely.

This workshop takes place on the lands of the Latji Latji, Nyeri Nyeri, Ngintait, and Wergaia people, the First People of the Millewa Mallee, and their neighbours the Barkindji, Maraura, Mutti Mutti, Tatti Tatti and Wotjabaluk people. We pay our respects to these communities and to their elders past and present.
