Event: ‘Changing Climates in the Mallee’

Join us for ‘Changing Climates in the Mallee’, a reading session for young adult readers (12-18 years)

When: Thursday 18 August, 4.30-5.30pm
Where: Collins Booksellers, 58 Langtree Mall, Mildura

The climate and our environments are changing. What do these changes mean to you? How are you noticing them? Or do they suggest things that might happen in the future?

Bren MacDibble’s novel How to Bee is set in a post-pollinator, post-famine Australia, where children hand-pollinate fruit trees. This is a world in which young people in regional Australia face climate challenges in inspiring ways. We are inviting younger Mallee residents to join us in a discussion about MacDibble’s book, and how it might connect with their own experiences, concerns and hopes for living in the midst of a changing world.

We will be providing free copies of How to Bee in advance of this session, but how much you read of the book is entirely your choice. Drinks and snacks provided. All participants will receive a $20 book voucher from Collins Booksellers.

We hope to see you there!

Please RSVP to Collins Booksellers, in store or on (03) 5023 1836, by 5 August (to receive the book in time).

This session is part of the ‘Reading in the Mallee’ and ‘Parched’ research projects, funded by the Australian Research Council.
